Craft Fair

Last weekend, the Saturday before mother's day, I went to a craft fair with my mother in law. I had such a great time. It's held at Seabury Hall, a private high school here, and all proceeds go towards their financial aid program. It has to be one of the most beautiful high school campuses ever.

There were pony rides.

A great selection of food. I had some pretty amazing pad thai for lunch.

Listening to the bagpipes and drums was neat too.

The jacaranda trees are blooming right now, a sure fire sign of spring in Maui (about the only sign of spring really).

Dear Mom

Dear Mom,

Mother's day is Sunday. Every holiday make me think about you and how long it has been since you've left this world. It's been a year and a half, but it seems like it's been longer and yet like it was just yesterday when I gave you my last kiss goodbye. So much has changed in that year a half but nearly everyday I wish I could call you and let you know whats going on in my life and catch up.
I'm going to be a mom soon. So next year I'll get to be celebrated on Mother's Day as well. It saddens me greatly that you aren't here to meet your first grandchild and won't get to see her grow up. I am looking forward to getting to tell her all about you though and sharing with her some of my favorite memories of you. Hopefully she'll grow up knowing all about you and how much you would have loved her.
I'm so grateful that you were my mom. Even though I did not like you sometimes while growing up because you wouldn't let me do what I wanted to do (and thank you for that) I still loved you. Is it conceited for me to say that I think I turned our pretty great? I hope and pray that I'm able to raise my daughter in a way that honors what you taught me growing up and that she'll be prepared for whatever life throws at her. Mom, you taught me so much, especially in that last few months of your life, about courage, strength, and faith in God. Thank you for being the best mother I could have asked for. I know it wasn't easy for you sometimes. I love you, and Happy Mother's Day!

Birthday Lunch for Janet

Today is my mom-in-laws birthday and the day has been spent celebrating her. She deserves it, such a great lady.

We had lunch at Mama's Fish House. The weather was a little overcast at first, but cleared up.

Sweet birthday card from the restaurant.

Our lunch was exceptional. Matthew and I shared an ahi sandwich and we scarfed it down. I need to point out that Matthew and I don't eat fish, but it was that good. The server brought over some vanilla ice cream for the birthday girl, which went perfect with the lilikoi creme brulee we ordered.

Amazing lunch with an amazing view.

And look at that baby bump! I'm currently 24 weeks along and baby girl is doing great. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that I'll be in the third trimester in just 2 1/2 weeks!

Again, the view. I'm looking forward to going back after baby is born just to enjoy the view with a non-virgin drink in hand.

Janet pointed out that the side walk is made up of gecko shaped stones. Pretty neat.

Janet and Dwayne sitting at the table while Matthew and I were taking pictures on the beach.

Last pic while waiting for the valet to bring the car around.

Janet's favorite cake is Princess Cake, so Matthew ordered one last week and I just got back from picking it up from Mana Foods in Paia. I'm looking forward to trying it this evening as we continue to celebrate Janet's day!

Happy Birthday Janet! Hope you have had a wonderful day!
